Animal Encounters' mission is to provide educational and entertaining programs which enhance people's appreciation of animals and help reinforce positive traits such as kindness and empathy.
Issaquah, Washington-based Animal Encounters is a family business which began as an outgrowth of Kim Connolly's passion for animals and her experience as a science educator. Over the years, Kim brought a wide variety of animals to her classrooms and worked as a zoo educator. Additionally, Kim was a leader in 4-H programs for many years in King County.
Kim was often asked if she could provide "animal encounters" at birthday parties, preschools, etc., and as these became increasingly popular Animal Encounters became a full time job. Kim's husband, John, joined her in 2012 and together with their staff they now present hundreds of programs annually. Kim and John hire knowledgeable, enthusiastic people who love animals.
Animal Encounters is regularly inspected by the United States Department of Agriculture and strives to exceed their standards for animal care. Their animals are treated with love, care and respect.
With programs including numerous species of mammals, reptiles, arthropods (bugs) and birds, Animal Encounters provides the broadest range of mobile animal programs in Western Washington.
Animal Encounters is a member of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), the International Zoo Educators Association (IZEA), and is a proud provider of education programs to the Seattle Humane Society (SHS).
